family law firm. ideas?

hey guys, my mother is a lawyer and has opened up her own law firm about a year back. Currently it is leased in a small downtown building in a low populated city. She works with her self and a secretary, and she works mainly in immigration and criminal law. I was wondering if there was a potential for making the big bucks in a few years down the road. I would be happy to work for her! I would like to know where i can start, i am 18 and would like to currently be in the position of advising her on how to expand the company. I want this to become a big family business, but how would i go about doing so? I was thinking about starting a new firm in a country where a majority of residents are trying immigrate here (Canada). Should i work and make money to do so?

Basically I'm confused on what I can do to help expand the company quickly and help bring in customers (ps: she's the only lawyer working at her firm).

what do you guys suggest?

Obviously you need to go to law school. To fit into your mother's biz, you should major in international or criminal law.

What role are you looking to play in this situation- expand it by being a lawyer as well, or doing the business aspect of it? Either way, it will require some schooling (formally or on your own at the library for a while) because legal issues, especially concerning international law, are very specific and the firm and personal reputations are at risk should something go wrong.

Share more specifics and I am sure many YEs how have experience in this will be able to point you in the right direction.
