Failure Got Ya Down?

Ok Ok...So we all have had it...You know...The dreaded Word...FAILURE!

They say the most successful people have failed the most...look at Einstein...and many of the great entrepreneurs of our day!

I say "Failure is part of the Success Equation"...

So to the discussion...

What have been your greatest failures on your Entrepreneurial Journey, and what did you learn from the experience?

How did the failure change your mindset about what you were doing?

Were there times where you failed, but then made the same mistake again?

I am looking forward to what you have to share! I am sure we can learn a lot from eachother as we all are on the same wavelength as entrepreneurship goes!

Best,
Scott Bradley

Hi Scott! Generally, when I made a mistake, I learned from it. I've learned that in entrepreneurship, the mistakes are especially painful due to monetary or pride reasons... but I've also learned that admitting the mistake and taking note of it really helped me move along and not do it again.

I can't even begin to recall all of the failures I've made.. but because of those failures and risks...I've made lots MORE successes come about from them. Business is much like trial and error.. the more you fail.. the more you learn. I welcome failure, because I will learn from it and correct whatever it was that i failed at. The knowledge I have gained from my failures is priceless, and I have no regrets at all!

Failure is part of success... I a business that just failed. at first i was upset about it, but i as time past it just made me stronger and smarter. you start to view everything at different angles. I think that my failure made me better than i was before. Now i am back on my feet and keep going forward.

Right on...We need to make the mistakes to learn "How Not To Do Something."
When I first started my blog I wrote a post about Failure and how it is part of the success equation...You can view the post here...http://scottgbradley.blogspot.com/20...-equation.html

Aside from "Learning by Doing" we always have to remember that we are going to make mistakes, lose money, bruise our ego and the like...From my experience, and reading other books...I have found that this is the only way to grow!

Great response!

jrod31,
What was your business? What inspired the idea?
What happened to the business? Where did you go wrong and what did you learn?
What are you doing now?

Very true. Although it really sucks to have to admit that we need to fail to progress.. because failing isn't fun at all. I remember seeing something about how failing in school is so discouraged, but in the real world, it is needed to grow.

I started a business with a friend, a local advertising magazine that was mailed out to over 20,000 residential houses plus it was left at local stores. within the magazine we would have business articles from business advisor's.. The idea started from me having 2 websites (1800home4sale.com and 1800carlist.com) I wanted to advertise those sites locally, so i started to think what if i had my own magazine and charge local businesses to advertise. and at the same time i could advertise couple of my own things. I could use it to my advantage. It was going good, until one day i went to check the books and we was short of money. from there it just went down hill. there was lack of management. and much more.... but it work out good. during the that time i learn about the printing industry and i met a lot of people in the printing business. so now i started to invest in printing equipment and supplies. so far its been going good.

jrod31,

What a great learning experience.

Let me ask you...it seems that you created the magazine for more of your personal gain...where was your focus? To help the people in the magazine or to help yourself more?

As Jim Rohn Says...The only way for you to get what you want, you have to help enough others get what they want.

What are your thoughts?

Best,
Scott
