    Jason,

I really don't want this to come out as insulting, because it really, truly is not meant that way.

I don't know if you are aware of this, but many people, even those who do believe in god, get a little nervous entering into a discussion with someone who wears their religion on their sleeve. I fully welcome your right to believe whatever you like, however, it can be a hindrance to you when dealing with professionals from other backgrounds. The only exception to that would be if you choose to limit your market to only people of your same belief system.

Just remember, keeping your beliefs to yourself in a professional setting does not compromise them in any way. I have learned this the hard way.

    EntrePR,

If one must hide his religion to satisfy others, then why should one believe at all?

I don't think anyone could have said that better.

    EntrePR...

I am not religious by any stretch of the imagination (borderline atheist, actually), but for some reason your comments do indeed come off as offensive. What does religion have to do with real estate? If you (or anyone else) can't talk to someone simply because they wear the cross around their neck or speak the name of God, then shame on you. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's people who 1) can't be respective of someone else's beliefs, and 2) try to tell others' just what their beliefs should be.

It's unfortunate that you have BOTH of those qualities, EntrePR.

It's almost funny when people say "I hope this isn't offensive", yet they proceed to say something that is actually (surprise) offensive. That would be like me walking up to an overweight person and saying "this isn't meant to be offensive, but you're the biggest fat ass I've ever seen".

Sorry, but the little "hope this isn't offensive" boilerplate doesn't cut it for me. EntrePR, I sincerely hope that you can conduct business in the future with those of all beliefs, no matter how they choose to express themselves. If you can't do that, then perhaps you (or others) shouldn't even be conducting business.

Look, I knew you guys would take this the wrong way. There is a big difference between hiding ones beliefs and choosing to not make them part of every conversation.

You have to understand where I am coming from. I have been fired for my personal beliefs (not attacking others, but just what I believe). I have also seen in the past people in similar situations lose business because of similar situations. I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone. It sucks.

I in no way told anyone what their beliefs should be. I am merely sharing some experience from my own life that I hoped would help. I also do not think I showed disrespect to anyone by stating that there are people who are made uncomfortable by promoting your beliefs (Do you think I would live in Salt Lake if I were that type of person?)

I stand for what I believe in, because I wear a across around my neck, should you not talk to me? Because my avatar has a picture in what I believe in, should you no talk to me?

If I lose business because someone does not agree with my religion, then so be it. I do not pressure my beliefs on anyone. As of matter of fact, my best friend has no spiritual belief and we get along great. At times he asks question and I answer, and I too ask question about his beliefs, the point is we never get into a heated argument because neither of us push our beliefs on one another.

I would prefer if a MOD would close the discussion before it gets out of hand.

It just happened to occur to me when you were wondering why no one responded to your thread that this might be a factor.

Again, I have been in the situation where I was "persecuted" for my beliefs and I feel bad when anyone else is in the same situation. I just wanted to help. And of course, for sharing what could be a valuable insight for your future business dealings I get attacked for saying things I didn't. Talk about killing the messenger.

    Sheesh.
