Recently I came up with an idea for a website, I explained it to my dad and he thinks it could be very useful to people who would visit the site.

However, i don't have the skills to create this website. I do on the other hand have exactly 500$ saved up that I'm willing to spend on this project, and more when I start working again in the summer.

What im looking for. A partner who has the skills in making websites, my idea does not need a perfect looking site to attract a large number of visitors but the information displayed on the website will. I like someone who can always keep up to date and someone i can trust, I have ADD so i will always be thinking of my ideas and adding on to them and i would need someone that can coordinate when my mind is ever changing!

some questions i have, how much do site start up costs?

The costs really depend on what kind of website this is. Is it a static website just displaying information? or a dynamic site?

What is the function of the site? Describe it more in depth (of course without giving away your ideas)

A basic website displaying information and pages can definitely be done for 500$.
Costs are 10$ a domain name, 1-10$ a month web hosting, and graphics and programming can be done for 400$ assuming it is a basic site, and you don't need top of the line graphics.

My advice is make sure to take a look at the web developers portfolio, and be sure you like his style before you choose him.

In addition to this site, you can find many affordable web developers on craigslist.com. just post and gig and you will get many offers.

Also, if you intend on making money from this site, you need to research the different models on doing this.
Bottom line, find a developer who's work you like, and explain to him exactly what you want and see what he can do. Its free to ask.

the function of the site is to display information submitted by local business for each city, i want the first homepage where it asks to enter your zip-code or city, it sounds like craiglist, but i want it to have a professional yet simple looking feel.... and kinda cartonist but artistic. ha :P

Do you know any good website developers you could point me in the right direction to?
