    Event Business

I would like to run an annual art event for one week a year. Can an event that takes place once a year for a week be a full time business? If so, what are some examples?

I would instead recommend creating it within other larger venues. In Texas for example we have the State Fair in Dallas that brings over 2million people. There is also regional fairs, and events held every year at different times through out the year. San Antonio has the rodeo bringing in quite a bit, and a yearly even called Fiesta.. basically if you know how to recruit talent and can organize and get yourself in with all the major venues as a sub-venue with a well known reputation in your State or even nation wide think you will be good. Think Blue Man Group, once you get popular lots of events would gladly book you for their events. Next you just need to create a business model as to how you want it to make money. You can charge artists to be part of your event, they get visibility in return, hold art contest or raffles etc. I would start by finding the largest venues in your state every year, then focus on the model, then how you will set yourself apart from other art shows. Hope this gave you some ideas.
