    Eureka!

I need to find a co-founder/site developer who I can work side-by-side with. They must be talented, willing to spend the majority of their time on this project, and have an entrepreneurial spirit.

-How do I find the level of expertise/experience I need in a co-founder, and what would be the best way to find them? I was thinking of talking to professors at graduate schools in my area, telling them what I want to do, and ask them to refer interested students. But I'm afraid releasing the idea in that manner would be detrimental. Any other suggestions?

You need to calm down. Youre so excited you just posted your idea for the world to see!

You seem really confident. What will make this idea better than the rest ?

    ??????????????????????????????????????????????

What idea???? I haven't said anything about what I want to do. Are you guys referring to where I mentioned that it would be a cross between a social networking site and an online forum, that incorporates myspace/facebook, ICQ/AIM, Craigslist, etc. This is nothing.

I just sent you a PM Gaulkin.

-Now back to my original question. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what would be a way of finding a co-founder who can help do all the technical development and maintenacne of the site?

I think, you need to do some market research. And read about people who have already made it big in the tech world.

Also a decent website, that has the possibility of making it big, will cost thousands to get the actual website made, thousands for a team to maintain it, thousands to put some hefty marketing behind it, and some money to get a legal expert to check things through (the internet is a legal minefield).

Its upto you how you go about youre venture.

Does anybody understand what "co-founders" are??? If I can find a team of developers, professionals in the marketing community, or any person that will help in the preparation of a presentation to potential investors. They would not be compensated, they would become business partners.

I'm guessing this isn't the right forum to ask my question. It seems that most of you either don't get it, or you find the idea of searching for a co-founder to help develop a website ludicrous. If you think I'm a little ahead of the start-up stage please say so, and make a suggestion. These negative comments aren't helping me at all.

Everyone seems to think that they can come up with an idea and then find people to do all the work. The reality is that you are going to need to do most of the startup work and/or provide the startup funding on your own. Entrepreneurs do not want to be compensated for helping someone else get rich, they want to do it themselves. I think you have a great idea so you need to work on making it happen.

Also, negative comments are the best kind of comments as they let you know what you are missing. If you expect everyone to jump up and down and tell you how perfect your idea is then you are in the wrong line of work. You need to seek out negative comments because they will help you to fix problems before they happen.

always listen to (read) the positive comments as they make you feel warm and fuzzy... everyone likes a compliment and slap on the back from a mate/stranger telling you 'good job mate'

then i have to second old mate rog about negative comments... get as many as you can... then go get some more... doesn't mean you have to listen to them all ... but atleast they will ground you and make you think... thinking is good because then you go do some more research and try to improve on your idea... it's an ongoing process

i hate asking people for input... asking successful people who have mastered it on the other hand... a kettle of fish worth sinking your head into... make that body... go for a bloody swim
