    Entrepreneurial New Years Resolutions Anyone?

    Hi All! Happy New Years!

As I write this it is 2009 as of two hours ago.

One of the things I really like to do is meet new entrepreneurs and hear about what their future plans for their entrepreneurial endeavors are.

Therefore, I thought it would be fun to have everybody that reads this post to take one minute and think really hard about what they want to accomplish in 2009 with whatever entrepreneurial endeavors you are working on or plan on starting.

So don't leave this forum without posting something. Anything is fine. Even if you say make 1 million dollars. But my real hope is this helps you give good thought about what you want to accomplish and you write something with at least a little detail. Thinking about this will help you figure out exactly what you want to accomplish this year.

So to start this forum off, below is my entrepreneurial new years resolution. I have much more 'detailed' resolutions, but I won't bore you with a long list.

In 2009 I would like to accomplish the following

    1. Grow my company, Sand Shack -- This includes increasing the number of stores that carry it from 100 to 500.
    2. Increase my number of sales reps from 5 to at least 20, with territories spreading outside of the east coast of the US.
    3. Continue to write quality, useful content on brianlinton.com (my website on entrepreneurship)
    4. Continue my new weekly video show on entrepreneurship (The Entrepreneur Road Show - air it every Tuesday), and grow the popularity of brianlinton.com as a result.
    5. Live life large. Travel a lot both for business and pleasure. Go to Mongolia...and Taiwan (to name a couple).

That's it! This only took me 5 minutes, and now I have a clearer idea of what I want to accomplish.... Give it a try... Not only will it help you, but people such as myself will be very interested to hear what your plans are.

    Cheers,
    Brian Linton

My company's (Sand Shack) website is: Sand Shack - Shell and Silver Jewelry | Shell Jewelry | Beach Jewelry | Cape Cod Jewelry | Located in Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Very nice goals you have there. Hopefully you have your businesses goals already outlined in your business plan; both short and long term.

I'm hoping that 2009 will be a profitable one. Starting today (1/1/09) I am beginning a journey which lasts 365 days. I will be starting a blog, and documenting my way to make $77,000 profit this year to afford to get into Harvard Business School. I am beginning with $100 startup capital. All of my goals follow the SMART principle:

    S - specific
    M - measurable
    A - achievable
    R - realistic
    T - timeframed

Like you, my goals are available elsewhere in more detail

    Nice Matagascar!

Those sound great, and I love the SMART acronym.

Anybody else want to add something?? Just add something short and to the point. Don't underestimate the power of thinking about and setting goals for what you want to accomplish.

The new year brings change, and with change comes opportunity..

2009 will hopefully give me the opportunity to do more than just store away my ideas. I hope that my Chinese-language learning website will be fully functional within the next few months, although this is more of a hobby than a lucrative business opportunity for the foreseeable future.

I also hope to have the opportunity to make a few trips to Shanghai to arrange the production of a prototype for a product idea I have.

This, of course, alongside being stuck in school!

I am going to start keeping some accounts so I know exactly how much I am earning and spending. I am also going to get all my new projects up and running and turning over $100 each a month by the end of August. I am also going to get my new eCommerce project going.

Oh, and set up my blog.

I am going to get my natural health idea up and running ( greensmoothies.co.uk/homepage_hidden.html for a sneak preview:P) and make money from it either from ads or from premium content. My main goal is to build up hype in the U.K about green smoothies so that we can all be healthy I would ideally like to be featured on BBC news.... I dont think that's too unrealistic a goal

Another goal is to find someone in my area who has entrepreneurial aspirations so that we can work together on putting our ideas into practice

Gibbo, having problems with school mate?

My first post at this website as I just ran across it, but what a good idea to write down goals for the upcoming year. I have been doing this for my business for the upcoming year and the next 2 years. I own a small low voltage company that we install security, fire, cameras, and intercom systems to name a few. My biggest goal for the next year is quality growth and a hire of our 1st employee.

Great responses guys! Keep them coming! It is still the first week of January and a great time to make entrepreneurial new years resolutions/goals.

Anybody have big plans for 2009?

    Cheers,
    Brian
