You have some really good info. First thing I would do is offer your read some sort of bonus in order to generate a lead this way you can follow up. From a scientific stand point I would get rid of the red find a more calming color such as blue.

Content wise I'd say your on the mark, but tbh the site was a bit of an eye sore. The red and orange really not working with the rest of the site, and that oversized 'V - Victory' banner is far too large. I'd switch the post titles to a blue as previously suggested and try to maintain a colour theme throughout the site. I always go to a web site which allows you to generate color palettes when building a website, will give you an idea of the colours that work together.

So like I said, content is good, but I got instantly scared away by that massive banner!
