    Energy Audit Business, feeback please.

I need some advice about this business I am thinking about starting. It is a home energy audit business.

Basically we go to your house and find ways for you to decrease your energy usage, and consequently your energy bill.

These changes range from changing light bulbs to replacing windows and doors. We only do the audits, not the retrofits.

Your local municipal power company would subsidize most of the audit but expect to pay between $200-$500.

    I have a couple questions:

How much would you be willing to pay?
    Would you even be interested?
    Why would you be interested?
Would you want the auditor to be certified by the government in auditing?
Would you be willing to get an audit done for cheaper if the auditor had little experience?

    Thanks in advance.

Many (if not all) local power companies subsidies are based on homeowner income, so know the levels before saying how much homeowner will be out-of-pocket.
How much would you be willing to pay?
Not sure how much I would pay but I think depending on how fast it could be recouped (energy savings) would make a big difference.
Why would you be interested? - Would you even be interested?
Would be interested if it would have $$$
Would you want the auditor to be certified by the government in auditing?
Certifications show professionalism and give impression of skillset
Would you be willing to get an audit done for cheaper if the auditor had little experience?
Better have references/testimonials in hand from previous happy purchasers :-)

I understand that. I was under the assumption that the most that the homeowner will have to pay is $500 regardless of income or subsidies. Do other company's usually charge more than this for audits?

    Thanks,
I was not really asking how much I should charge. I was asking how much you would be willing to pay.

To be honest you would be paving your way in an emerging market.
The best way would be by marketing it as a "them vs the giant" type business and that you can rescue you them.
For instance look at how solutions to cable/dish televison through different new online providers are being treated like Hulu.
