eBooks - What Would You Like to Resell?

I am working on my first company after seperating from my partners and I am working with a few publishers on developing a eBook reselling company. It will use a monthly membership instead of a per download fee.

I was wondering in general what eBooks you would like to see and resell? I am currently in talks with Wiley and a few others.

To be 100% honest, I never read e-books. I don't know why, but I feel like anyone and his brother can just start writing an e-book about anything and everything, claiming they're an expert at the subject, and then they try to sell it to you. It just seems that paper based books has more merit, and is more likely to influence me as I am more likely to take it serious. But i'm just one person, obviously plenty of people read them, or atleast download them, hence your thread.

As far as what type of e-books you should have on your site, don't limit your selection to what the YE community wants, you need to have a rich and diverse selection.

Good luck! Don't take my post negatively, I just never read em'. I do have some ebooks on my computer, but they're the digital copies of actual books I could pick up at the library.

    Hi JM&G,

Great question. I understand what CGM is saying and agree to a point. The problem with so many so-called e-books online is that they are really just sales materials, telling you a piece of the story so you'll pay for the "whole" story. I'm assuming what you're working on is something more legit, especially if you're talking with actual publishers, like Wiley. That being the case, you'll find the same answer from a lot of people on YE, and that is that anything on business, business motivation, and personal development is great.

Looking forward to others' responses to this question as well. It will be interesting to see what everyone wants.

    To your success!
    John

On average eBook sales are around 31 million a month. Total books average at around 800 million per month.(Source is AAP) The eBooks you talk about are from crappy so called entrepreneurs who set up websites and sell useless eBooks. These are not what I am looking for.

@JohnYE I am working with a consultant to develop relationships with several publishers. Wiley is the most helpful. Thanks those 3 ideas will be included.

The reason I am asking YE, Partnerup and several other forums is for market research. I need to make sure I make the best agreements. What I am looking for is not Book titles but more genres.

I would really like to see alternative construction books. It's a big passion of mine, and I would like to see more books on the subject. Everything from strawbale, to cob, cordwood and earthbag construction methods to create amazing earth-friendly homes.

Of course, good entrepreneur books. Not the run-of-the-mill "SEO and How to make internet millions!" type of book, but some legitimate ones. I want to read one that makes me feel (by example) that I can do anything I want to, that nothing is out of my grasp. The whole rags to riches type inspirational story. Not all this new-age 'start blogging and earn money today!" type stuff. I want to read about companies being formed, from the ground up. From the first product on the shelf to the now multi-million dollar company. Something to get pumped about.

Perhaps clinical trials too, I know that isn't such a popular or highly sought out genre of literature, but I used to always read anthropology clinical trials. I would assume that nowadays, these would be released on e-book too.

Unless you're only seeking certain genres, and dismissing others I would say it would be neat to include those. But if you can, try to include as many genres as possible. Good thing about e-books, they don't take up any physical space so all you need in terms of storage is a great web-host that is within your budget..

    Good luck!
