    ebook/bog site

    blog or ebook - credability

hi guys - in order to give your blog or ebook credability do you need to have it written by yourself or can you use a fictional character , for instance what would be better john doe 's ebook and blog on how to get rich (even though no one has ever heard of me!!) , or a name such as million dollar man , or the money guru etc etc

this is not my chosen topic i just used this as an example

If you wanted to build somethign sustainable, you should build credibility. It takes time and a lot of effort, but building credibility in your industry and becoming an "expert" are far more valuable and will lead to much more success than trying to "cheat the system."

In order to build credibility, I believe we must use our own name and show our own character. I think people will not trust a fictional character in long term.

yes, i agree, my point is i am very very knowledgable in my chosen field however being knowledgeable and being heard of are 2 different things and i was wondering if people would not read if it was my own name because they hadnt heard of me? does that make sense!!
is it ok to call yourself an expert of anything like that then after your name or will you then get people writing in asking for your qualifications

If you are really an expert, you would gain credibility by stating your qualifications.
The reason people who have credibility are known, is because others consider them experts, they don't just consider themselves an expert.
Reading information on the internet doesn't make someone an expert.

One of the best ways to be considered an "expert" is to write and give presentations regarding your chosen subject. Personally, I would try to get published in your industry's publications, something that has editorial checks i.e. newspapers, periodicals, journals etc. Blogs are fine but a blog alone, in my opinion, will not cement your status as an "expert", especially since anyone can create a blog and make themselves appear more knowledgeable than they truly are.
Therefore, I would suggest doing both. Get a blog going if you want but also try to get published and speaking engagements.
