depends on how the cart is set up, but yes you and the customer should receive an email with the product bought, customer's contact info, etc

What is your cart? Do you have a payment gateway? We use Authorize.net and they will send a receipt to the customer, and a notification that a payment/order was processed. They also send daily batch reports from the bank, etc.

If you need anything else feel free to PM.

The easiest way to accept payments as an online merchant is by accepting paypal or you could use a company like 2checkout and accept credit cards.

Almost all online payment processors or will give you the option to receive an email once a sale or transaction is made.

Yes, normally the shopping cart software should send an email notification to the site admin or sales dept (depending on your settings) when an order has been made. Check your admin panel and make sure this setting has been enabled.

If you use a company like Paypal you should receive notification. The software itself might also do this as well considering what ecommerce cart you use.
