E-Book For Marketing

I'm new to this (not this forum, e-marketing) and I was wondering everyones' opinion on giving away e-books for promotion.

As far as I think, ebook promotions are a good idea and help a lot.

ebook promotion is powerful and viral. strategically placed your link in your ebook allow others to click on it.

I think this is a good idea, but it has to be in line with your business. As long as your target market for the business is the same as the target market for your ebook. For example your book is about the stock market, if you are in the investment industry then you are good to go, you are targeting investors. But if say you are a wholesaler and you sell products, then writing an ebook about wholesaling would be pointless, because you are targeting consumers and retailers.

viral marketing through free ebook is among the chepeast way to get targeted visitor to your site... but make sure the free ebook is also quality enough to get the reader to click to your link...

I use a free ebook to encourage people to sign up for my mailing list on one of my sites. It works grreat, I got some of viral traffic from it and after I inserted a few affiliate links into discrete parts of the ebook I have even started to get a few extra bucks from it! Plus, th eproduct I sell carries a lot of questions with it and the ebook answers all of those so its a win-win-win situation.
