DVD Renting

Does anyone know if the rules or laws for renting DVD. I mean can I just start a company and start renting DVDs or is there an approval I need to get from some Movie or DVD organization?

Well, you would need to take care of zoning, taxes, and licenses like every other business. Then you would need a DBA, your building (I'm assuming you will set up a brick and mortar store), and insurance for everything. Then you would need to purchase the inventory. I believe it would be the same as any other business, it's not like you are selling bootlegs.

Are you looking to start this company to compete with the Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, or Movie Gallery that's in your area, or is there not a movie rental place by you. If not, you could buy into the franchise, then you would only have to worry about the loan (which you can get the SBA to back you up to 80&#37
