I would like your opinions on DVD pricing.
Do you think that an online DVD store should have a standard pricing of 9。90， 12。90 and 15.90?

Or should i mark the cost price up by a certain percentage resulting in a range of prices like 12.80, 11.50, 14.20......

The best way to do your pricing is to have a standard per disc cost like $9 per disc and maby have one price for new releases and then another for like classics. Then offer quanity discounts.

But the fact that my cost varies, so there is a need to adjust the prices. Having 2 fixed price will make me earn more on some and less on some, resulting in a unstable profit.

Do you also sell DVD?

I also sell movies buy i buy mine at a fixed price so that is why i have such a simple pricing structure. If you have varied wholesale costs you should mark your items up a certain precent, Profit margins on DVD's vary tons. Like Best Buy and Circut City have a very little profit margin they just rely on Volume. If your selling online, you usualy cant sell Retail unless your Amazon. The main way to sell online is sell at deep discount but it is hard to find a supplier to sell at such deep discount prices. But your pricing structure should be based on a certain percentage, then you will have varied prices.

Well but basically i am still considering because to really setup a dvd store, tens of thousands of dvds are required. What do you think of dvd store selling niche selections of a few thousand dvds？

I dont have a website up. I mainly do distribution. what do you mean by niche selections of a few thousands dvds?

That is the best way to do pricing one tip i will give you though is that there is a tiny market for classic dvd's. New Releases is where there is money, nobody want to buy classic dvds.

Then i think my as well dont sell. There are too many online dvd stores selling new releases. Where do you stand? I dont even have to mention the big names that you are against. Unless you are telling me you sell copied ones which then leaves me nothing to say.
