Dropshipping in a nutshell is where a supplier/dropshipper carries the merchandise in stock and ships out the product to your customer for you. The customer purchases the item through your store/website & pays you, you order it from the supplier/dropshipper and pay them for the item, then the supplier/dropshipper sends the package straight to your customer. Your profit is the difference between the suppliers price and the price you sold the item to the customer for.

This is a helpful tool for new businesses because you won't have to carry loads of inventory, because the dropshipper carries and stores your inventory for you. Be careful though, there are a lot of "dopshippers" & "wholesalers" that are nothing more than a gateway to the real suppliers. They take your order once you send it to them, then forward the order to the real dropshipper/supplier, and take their cut of the price of sale thus reducing your profit.

Hope this helps

so the company or client that recieves your product dont get to see an invoice or anything for how much the item really cost you? just wondering if they would then go to the dropshipping company direct after a delivery

Nope, they should keep any of their invoices out of the final shipped package. Most wholesalers will also let you send them your own letterhead or business cards to include in the shipped package. Your customers will have no clue that an the item came from a dropshipper.

It's when you're shipping something, and rather than delivering it to someone's door, they drop it from the sky.

For example, the postal service typically puts your mail in your mailbox, or carriers such as UPS or FedEx will occasionally bring a package to your doorstep. Drop shipping companies on the other hand usually operate with helicopters, so they fly over your home or business and drop the packages from the sky.

The reason it's so popular right now is because it completely cuts out the cost for a lot of labor expenses. There is only the pilot of the helicopter, and the rate of delivering packages is much faster. Because of the lower expenses, they charge much lower shipping rates than other popular carriers.

The only problem is drop shipping is not really practical in crowded rural or suburb type areas where there is not as much landing area for the helicopters between routes.

A lot of people think drop shipping has to do with wholesale and stuff like that, but they're either mistaken or lying. It's far more advanced than that.

I am thinking about drop shipping... but most drop shippers you find on the internet are rip offs. Some you don't even have to have a business License to anything to buy from them, what will stop all of your customers from buying direct and saving money?

I'm actually in training to be a dropshipping pilot. The benefits are great, and they even let you drink on the job!

I guess is pretty much the same as any other pilot job out there.
