    Dot com ideas (Investors)

I have a dot come idea in the works and i have a potential investor. But in order to go about this in a professional manner i need to draft up a business plan. If anyone knows how to present a dot com idea to potential investor, or can point me in the right directions if there are any sites that can help, let me know.

Writing a plan for a venture, is no different, whether it be online or offline. The only difference is, that youre plan will obviously cover more details about the technicality of the business. EG: website, hosting, maintenence.

You need to buy a book and take time to learn how to write a business plan. No one on here will help you, if youre an entrepreneur, you would proberly have already been studying books on how to write a business plan... as all businesses need a plan.

Writing a business plan for a "dot-com" business is no different to an offline business. It is still a business venture, that you are trying to get backed by an investor.

u guys have no idea what you're talking about
smcclure, RE "can point me in the right directions if there are any sites that can help, let me know", look in my signature, visit all the sites in the reading list (use an rss reader)
all of these blogs are written by investors who finance internet companies
you can start with allen's commandments
...if you've never pitched for capital before, the bad news is that you're in for a very steep learning curve...the amount of practical knowledge that you need to master (whether it's information networks and trust theory or term sheets basics) is overwhelming
the most effective method for you to overcome your current "falling short" in this subject matter is by joining your local vc and angel associations
...look...there is a number of secrets to closing venture finance...they have to do with politics and manipulating/persuading people against one another...but for a first basic step you'll need to accept that no decent financier in history has ever relied on a business plan to make investment decisions...and when you're gonna be a millionaire with all these founders chasing you for money, you'll clearly understand the practical basis for the fact aforementioned
