Door knocking - is it worthwhile?

Is door knocking a whorthwhile option and what's the best way to get a door knocking team? Also do you believe that by door knocking it cheapens the branding of a premium product or the product itself?

What are you selling? I've cold called door to door and it works. Depending on what you are selling you can save some time by cold calling via phone and then set an appointment with the decision maker.

As said above it depends what you are selling. I have had great success making cold calls. One of the fastest ways to get a business off the ground and rolling if you have the right product for it. Steve

This is pretty old and tested technique and works well for many people. The success of this type of campaign depends upon what type of product you are selling. For example, in developing countries it work well if you are selling female products, because most of the females are house wives and in absence of their husband one can easily sell them anything.

The product itself will be fruit and vegetables. More or less we are starting up an online fruit and veg store and are specialising in mixed boxes where the consumer doesn't have to bother with buying items individually etc.

I don't like door to door, but like each poster has stated, depends on the product, I don't know enough about fruit/veg to give you a definitive answer, but in my opinion the man hours and cost can be better spent utilizing the internet, as I believe investing in your website (organic growth/traffic) yields the best ROI

    Good luck!

Selling food items door to door would likely require a permit. I can't imagine it would be allowed though. I would never buy a food item from a door to door peddler. Well, maybe girl scout cookies.

I'm sure your product would be nicely boxed but still, I wouldn't trust a food product that is being sold door to door.

No physical product would be sold at the door. Rather I would be informing them of the service which we provide and possibly get them to sign up for a 1 month plan or at least that's the plan.

Ohhh. I got it now. LOL
Unless you plan to throw a team of sales people into territories I would think that door to door would be pretty limiting and time consuming. Maybe it would be more cost effective to have cheap labor leave a nice looking flyer on the door knob.
