    Lightbulb donations...how to start off

I would like to create a site where someone purchases a product and a percentage is donated to a charity or organization. How can I make it legit so people do not think that its a scam? I want to show to everyone that I am making these donations to their charity/organization. But how would I go about doing so? making it legit so others can tell others that this is not a scam

    all ideas please

    thanks

    Here's an idea

Maybe you can ask the organization you're donating to, if they will make you a very small page on their site. Then you can tell your customers to click a link on your site that takes them to your personal page on your organization's site.

This way they will see you are ligit as you will have a page within the org's URL. That's all i can think of Hope that wasn't confusing hehaheae...

    Thats a good idea.

They may also send you a thank you letter or a certificate when you make a donation. You can include scans/photos of these on your website.

That would obviously occur a few months into the project, once some donations have been made.

I was thinking of doing a site like Chooseyourcharity.org but had the same hesitant and worry that ianternet had about being legit. That is an awesome idea G_Ina...

inaddition to that, you could see if the charity will design a page for you to have the people directed to after the purchase (assuming you are using paypal, it would be the confirmation page basically). Though that does come after the actual purchase....so I guess that doesnt work, hmmm....maybe getting a sig from an organization like the BBB would help you out. It doesnt really address the problem they have, but they may be more trusting.

thanks for all the ideas - I will be posting donation images on the webpage to assure its legit via my paypal page - playing devils advocate - I assume these customers would like a receipt - I will be using paypal as my merchant cart and I think I would have to customize the email thank you with paypal?

This will be a hard project I hope I can get it up and running, tryin to gain consumer trust that the donations are legit.

is there a chance that these organizations will help me provide me more information? or should I just create a link to their main website?
