    doing business in Croatia

Hello from Croatia, land of thousands of islands. :-)
Lately I am thinking to start some kind of business of mine. I searched thousands of web pages and printed thousands of interesting articles. I have several ideas mostly offline business ideas but I would like to run both online business (in order to earn passive income ) and offline business.
Croatia is really a land of many business opportunities but with population about 4,4 millions Croatia is too small for doing some kind od business only for its teritory. So, I would like to start an export oriented business.

    I have some suggestions:

    - pellets production ( green business)
    - wind turbines
    - oyster and shiitake mushroom growing
    - agricultural web bourse for all balkan countries - Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kosovo, Croatia ...etc.
    - industrial mariculture
    - pet delicacy products

This is a start. All of these ideas need a lot of investments and right now I have zero money. Hope I will soon come up to more interesting business ideas.
On the other side I would like to hear some business prepositions from you.

Can you give some hints due to interesting offline or online business idea that I can run? What are the products that could be exported to your country or region?

    Best regards.

    Hello arivle21,

Good to see another fellow looking to start a business.

I am from Switzerland I am also looking into import/export businesses. If you know of any interesting products to export to Europe then I would check it out.

Do you have any rescources in great amounts that is cheap in comparision with other countries? What are salaries like in Croatia? Do you think there is an opportunity for labor-intensive products?

    Hello John,

first of all, I'm a girl . :-) Very ambitious girl interested in starting my own business or business with a good business partner.

Economic status of Croatia right now is ideal for business investments. I read today that the unemployment rate is rapidly growing and currently is about 18,3%!!! Huge number, isn't it?

More information about most important economic indicators for Croatia you can find on CNBC.com- just put into google "cnbc croatia economic indicators". I found this web page very realistic.

In Croatia, there are many people willing to work through student employment service. A student can work for about 2,8 EUR-os per hour ( his money)+ 18% tax ( student employment service money).
Also, many people that lost their jobs are working through student employment service ( they r not students, they r only using someone's student contract to do the work - you can do that in Croatia).

My salary (and I have university degree in marketing) is about 753 EUR-os. Not much.
Apartment costs are about 125 EUR-os( heating, electricity, etc...) + 300 EUR-os for rent. Terrible, isn't it?

I think that the future of our country is mostly in green businesses and agricultural production. I think that I could make profit in these areas. ( I mentioned mushroom growing).

Could you think about some kind of product that could be exported to EU due to mentioned facts about my country.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Best regards,

    Lily.
