Does this mean my product is a failure?

Hi, let's say you've developed a new product that is completely unique. Unless you demostrate, people won't even know what it is just by looking at it. No third party reviews or anything.

And you list this on Ebay, and you gave a description of how it works with a picture. You start the bid at a price you want to sell for. You are a new member with 0 feedback.

After 2 days, you've seen from the visitor counter that 20 people have looked at your item. (You listed it at the appropriate category, but it's so new and unique it's unlike anything in that category). But you got no bid and no watchers.

Does that mean the product is a failure? Or is Ebay usually like that? I remember selling something more mainstream back then and I still only got like 2 bids after 80 people looked at the page.

    Thanks

You need to market your product...not come up with an idea and slap it for sale on ebay. Ebay could be a potential way to market it, but you need more than just that.
Put a Zango toolbar on your website that requires your traffic to download in order to view your content. You earn up to $1.45 for each download!

Make a website dedicated to the product. Put a lot of information, pictures,... of the product.

Then sell at ebay and provide the link to your website.

btw, also sell the products on your own website, the traffic might increase and people will start buying from your site instead of ebay.

And if your product is truly that unique, then have it branded.

Make sure you , as Moneymaka said, create a dedicated website for your product. Perhaps even create a video of the product in use as well.

Your product is not a failure.

First of all, if your product is completely brand new to the market that you are targeting, you need to educate the market. As everyone else above me said, you need to build a website for this product of yours. Why? Well, compared to offline marketing, online marketing will be much cheaper.

You need to highlight the problems that your prospects are facing and how your products is going to solve them.
