o.k failing that, is there any software or a website where you can find out the profitability of certain companies in different industries eg data displayed in a graph. I know you can find this by going through the accounts but is there an easier way to see it for all companies in one industry? eg the performance of apple against the rest of the computer industry. Not just in terms of profit but in terms of assets, wages etc

I'm sure there is but I don't know of any. The other problem is only public companies must disclose their earnings so it doesn't help with private companies, which make up the majority in any given sector.
