Does Anyone here sell on Ebay?

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone here buys stuff from international vendors and sell the products on Ebay? Could someone of you give me an idea how it works. I konw the basics of buying the product and selling it but is there any techniques involved? For example, if you buy a product in bulk and you list them on Ebay, do you just repost the items until you sell all of your inventory. What would be the most effective way of selling all of your inventory? Making a website just for that specific product? Any other relevant advice would be appreciative as well.

    Thanks,

    Robert

Some people use what is called a Dutch auction process where if I'm not mistaken you put up all your items that are IDENTICAL and let people bid on them. The highest bidder wins his item and then every other person that has bid gets to buy the item for the same price.

Ive never heard of that technique Hugh,
But recently i was on ebay, and through a transaction i didn't win, there was an option to by the same product for the bid price i specified before the product was bought. EG, item was bought buy buyer XYZ for $60, he outbid my bid of $55, the seller can contact me thru "second chance offer" and provide me the product for $55.

Out of interest what type of products are you trying to sell through Ebay Robert?

You should be able to find all the info you need on Ebay, or through their customer questions. One thing I would advise about Ebay, is to be cautious about anything you cannot post/mail easily, like furniture items for instance, as things can get messy with collection & delivery sometimes, also very time consuming in that respect.

Yes, I'm pretty sure this is correct. Or at least it used to be this way. I sold on Ebay for years.

You might look into using the Ebay store option if you have lots of items. It will save you a lot of fees.

    Hy there,
I stopped selling on Ebay over 1 year ago now as i was finding it harder and harder to justify the returns i was making when compared to effort and more importantly the time i was putting into it. The site is saturated and has of late done itself no favours in terms of customer relations with regards to the seller, i refer of course to the proposed restrictions on Sellers feedback availability.
The site really does need a serious adversary and before anyone shouts out Ebid.............forget that site, they have been around as long as Ebay and still have made no serious challenge to Ebay's crown.

My own opinion here but i think the UK's love affair with Ebay may have peaked, especially as now sellers have to register for tax, i think some of the early appeal here in the Uk was one of the little man managing to make a small income without the Taxman knowing however illegal it may be

Just my own thoughts but thought i would share them.

There are 2 options. There is

dutch auctions(some said this earlier but had it confused)
Dutch auctions are if you have more than one item that you want to sell in one big order to just one person. For example, if you have 100 items and want to sell them all to one auction winner, then you would set up a ducth auction. You start the auction with a price you want for all the items together.

Multiple item auctions are a little different. If you want to sell multiple items (one item per bidder). An example would if you have 100 items. You start the price at how much you want to sell 1 item for. Then everyone who bids will win 1 item. This would be the better way to make money if you have more than one item to sell.

Let me know if you have any questions. I also have a blog that will help you make money. It's free.

Sorry, to say the most common thing anyone has ever said about ebay, but, sell junk around your house, get an idea of how the site works. When I was 14, I ran around the house asking my mom if I could sell stuff. Its really a learning process, and if you just all the sudden start buying bulk and reselling you are not going to turn as great of a profit as you could because there are a lot of tricks to learn about selling on ebay that take time to learn. Also, what are you looking to sell? do you have suppliers, I might could help you locate inventory, PM me

This is funny, beucase this is EXACTLY what I do and I never thought another young entrepeneur would be in the same business.

Well, I started RickyCeez Imports about a year ago. ( Im a Sophomore in Highschol ) To be honest, if you find the right product you can EASILY pull in around 4 G's a month. ( lol after you know what your doing, this isnt a get rich quick operation. What you want to do is import goods and just sell them on ebay for a profit. Sounds easy right???

Yeah........no. Not at all. Although this venture can be quite profitable, you have to go through so much "ish" just to run your business. What your not seeing is...

1.Customs Taxes. ( mean while, just to IMPORT SOMETHING you have to fill out a "ish" load of paperwork. Not to mention pay taxes on it.
    2.High Ebay fees.
    3.A shipping plan.
    4. A business logo ( believe it or not, the key to a business is your presentation. If you look like a "mom and pop" outta southern alabama someone might not even feel your a legit business when you get started.

So even though selling on ebay sounds simple, if you want to start this type of business... constructing a business plan is wise.
