**Does anyone else think we need a few more moderators?**

honestly this is in the top 5% of forums i see that has the most spam. Im Hoping i can get the attention of the general YE council to perhaps consider adding onto the team. ithink it would enlighten some young minds to not to have to decipher through spam or get caught up in a scam dettering them from their dreams of being a sucsessful entrepreneur.

Does anyone agree? Can anyone offer recomendations?

Lighthouse I agree.... The Mods do an outstanding job , but as you said can not keep on top of all the ridiculous spam that filters inro the forum. I would be willing to offer my services as a mod if decided more were needed. Thanks for giving us such a great forum to network and express our thoughts, opinions, dreams, and achievements.

    Keep up the great work.

its working out not to bad, I don't have the time I want to promote my site, bc of my day Job I want to get out of and then time with the family, and lastly needing enough sleep bc I have Narcolepsy. So I work and promote when I can. I am happy with my return so far. I am not using godaddy, where did you come up with that at?

I'd be more than happy to be a volunteer moderator. I don't spend too much time here, but i do visit the site multiple times a day for a few minutes to catch up, and I can skim threw the spam pretty quickly

there is alot of problems with product design

    one of these is spam

the only way to correct these problems if for the owners to implement systematic quality assurance surveys

but the guys don't want to do that because they don't consider ye.com a real business - hence, it has no business plan, much less any kind of mangement structure

all of this has been said a million times, and I for one, have no reservations about sitting down and implementing a plan to generate cashflow for this venture

I moderate a 46,000 (approx, as of last week) user Nissan enthusiast forum, and I'd be more than happy to moderate here too if they'd have me.

I don't know the first thing about actually running a forum and monetizing it (I'm just a mod, not an admin/owner), but I'd still like to be present (obviously via internet) at any "sit down" of the sort being proposed by Akula, even if my limited brick-and-mortar brain can't necessarily wrap itself around everything that's being said.

Of course, I also do my fair share of bitching on here from time to time, so I suppose it's entirely possible that the current moderation team wants nothing to do with me, lol.

Guys ( noone in particular) Im not asking to talk yourselves up and nominate yourselves, lol. Im simply asking if you have any recomendations(thanks akula) on how to solve this problem. We also have to have YE BOD chime in here.

I was attempting to do neither. I can say from experience that it's not a rewarding job, and I'd rather not do it than do it. I was just volunteering if they happened to need people.

Anyway, I typed a bunch of stuff here, deleted, re-typed, et cetera.

The "long and short" of my opinions on the matter are that I think user surveys are a good idea because the forum owner(s) need to know what people are looking for when they come here. I also happen to think that while I have a lot of faith in the invisible hand, monetizing YE is a very goddamned indirect way to solve the problem of there being too much spam/crap posts.

Furthermore, I think it'd be a terrible idea to make me a moderator, because I'd ruthlessly delete any/all self-promoting MLM/affiliate posts and likely want to perma-ban the users that post them. I'd pretty much make this place a clone of YGG (which I think is managed impeccably), and that'd likely piss off the legions of adsense-dependent cretins that make up what at times seems to be 95% of YE's userbase.

Guys you probably don't realise half the spam thats posted on the site. Its mostly deleted before you get to see it. I think anybody who wants to be a mod post here in this forum and I'm sure adam (Bizguy) will consider you to be a mod.

If you want to take direct action in the meantime, reporting posts is the way forward. It sends a direct email to all mods telling them there is a reported post in the forum. Its gets to us straight away and is usually deleted quickly.

I'm sure that's the case, that's certainly the way it works on my Nissan forum. Most of it is caught within minutes of being posted and no one ever sees it.

Along that vein, I'd argue that visibly, YE doesn't even really have an outlandish spam problem. It's more along the lines that certain stuff is considered legitimate posts when, IMO, it should be considered spam.

The rules pertaining to where you can/cannot promote your own ventures need to be solidified.

yeah agreed with your last point. Some people are taking the piss with just one post and advertising their company legit or not, still spam.

Wangan why don't you contact Bizguy? Pm me if you want and i'll forward it on to him...
