Do you think Donald Trump is a good influence for young entrepreneurs?

By now most of you probably know who Donald Trump is and if not, you are certainly on the wrong forum.

Do you think that Donald Trump is a good influence for Young Entrepreneurs? Why or why not?

No, he's an idiot.

He inherited all of his original fortunes from his father. This point alone, I think, makes him a bad example. An entrepreneur who has all the money required right from the start is just wrong. I think a true entrepreneur should start from nothing and through innovation and creativity, turn nothing into something and then go on from there.

Trump simply was handed the money. He then decided he wanted to get into the whole property market, so he hired a giant management team of experts who basically made most of the decisions for him... and even then he only just survived.

Branson on the other hand is awesome. He started from absolutely nothing, beginning with a magazine called Student, and then moving into Virgin Music and then into Airlines and the rest is history. He's also just a really cool person and always doing awesome marketing stunts.

So yeah, Trump = rich from the start and up himself; Branson = cool

He is not my ideal person either, but that is besides the point.

He has a billionaire mindset ... even if he had not received his original
start from his father he would have made it anyway.

Most people dream of developing a millionaire mindset, and Trump has
surpassed that repeatedly.

Like him or not, he knows what he is doing.

I disagree about the Trump characterization...

TO characterize Trump as given everything and then just hiring a management team is rather simplistic. His father dealt with low income apartment buildings for the middle and lower classes. Trump was given an education on property from the get go, watched how his father conducted business, and recieved (correct me if I am wrong) 200k to start with from his father.

Trump was not given his vision for taking over the NYC skyline, he formulated that himself and he is smart enough to find people smarter than him to manage his business. He is a good manager of people, getting the most out of people that work for him, and continues to build his empire when most people would have stopped after building a few buildings to rest on their laurels and retire to a beach. He loves his work and will do it until he dies. I think there is something to be said for passion and those that bring it to their business. Trump certainly has a lot of it.

I seriously doubt that. He may have made a pretty good income through a business... but no where near becoming a multi-billionaire.

I think I've just been sour towards him after reading a few of his books... which I felt were a waste of my time and taught nothing.

His recent books were crap

His recent books were crappy, but I think his first book "the art of the deal" (correct title?) was good. The recent books had no substantial content, tons of white space, and lots of pats on his own back.

I think when you have made a few billion you deserve a pat on the back, smarty.

Glad to see him enjoying his life now, but he's long way from being my idol. Don't fancy his arrogance and flamboyant attitude.

No doubt he's smart, and would have achieved his current status without financial help from the father. Remember 10 years back he was on the edge of bancruptcy but now worth a few cool billions.

That's just it though - you deserve a "pat on the back" -- not SEVERAL pats by one hand (in this case, his OWN hand).

I'm not really a real estate buff either, so the guy doesn't really even apply to me. Sure I watched his show, but that's about it.

I dont think it really matter where he got his funding from.. and sure he was one the edge of bancruptcy but still he made it and now he is worth billions of dollors i think that is something he has the right to be proud of.

Even if his father gave him some money to start him off.. it was still him that made it work ...

look at parise hilton... she got lots of money from her parents.. but what does she do? she whore herself out.. right..

Even if he hire people to do things for him.. he still has to manage them ... so i think he is doing great.
