    do i need liability insurance?

hey everyone, got a question. i am starting a side company where i fabricate items out of metals and woods. i am wondering if i need some sort of general liability insurance to cover my products in case someone discovers some sort of way to hurt themselves with my product. i am not selling any services or anything just merchandise that i design and make by hand. any advice would be much appreciated.

Put a warning on it (sticker). That will allow you to dodge some liabilities.

It depends on how hurt someone can get, how much money you have, how much your product is worth, how many units you sell, and how much you care if someone sues you for enough money that you simply drop everything and go do something else. . .

so getting a general liability policy along with the stickers would probably be a good idea

If you say so. I bought a 4-pack of condominiums a few weeks ago and I haven't called my agent to add their liability to my policy. Not that it's not important, but I figure the odds of something freaky happening isn't that high. . .I'll add 'em next week. . .

liability insurance is one of those things that wouldn't hurt to have, but most of the time you won't needed (or won't have to have it), but the cost is pretty cheap to attain a policy. Some would say its better to be safe than sorry. Its really a judgement call on your part.
