    Do i need to have a tax id if i sell sneakers and clothes on a website?

    you HAVE TO charge sales tax for in state sales. Whether it's on the net or not. The IRS could audit you and then make YOU pay all the sales tax and that is exactly what you are assuming if you dont charge it.

    Also, yes...you do need a tax ID.

    If you have no employees, you can use your social security number -

    though not advised, considering how easy and fast it is to get a separate tax id number for your business

    I would recommend filing for a Fed. Tax ID. Some states also require state ID's, but again, it all depends on the state. We are waiting on getting the final "go-ahead" for this last business I registered (business Consulting), and will then be able to open a business bank account and start working on our corporate credit.

    US laws are crap! Luckly I live in the Europe UK and here you don't need one untill you go over 60,000GBP Gross.

    It is a really good idea to get one, but I'm not sure if you need to be incorperated first. If I understand it right, you are considered a sole proprieter until you incorperate, so I think you can get one without being incorperated.
