Ok so please be honest...I have not invested any money or time in this idea yet and I want to know if it is good or bad?

So the idea is free wifi (high speed internet) supported by advertisement.
I will set up hubs, starting maybe in one 1 square mile of town. (coffee shop district) People can browse the web for free on a high speed network but will see advertisement on the top of there screen. Or maybe every 10 pages they will see and advertisement.

Instead of having to pay 10 dollars for things like T-mobile hot spots at starbucks they can get my free access...

what do you guys think!

Not bad, but the overhead seems like it'd kill you. Bandwidth for a service like that can get costly if you don't proportion out the user access/download/upload usage, etc. I'd use it for free internet access. As long as I'm not FORCED to click an ad.

I'm not sure it would work the way you'd like it to. To deliver the adds you might have to distribute custom-tailored software, and that would make it logistically more complicated.

Anyone without the software would be able to access the network ad-free, and if you activated security on the connection it would defeat the ease of it: making you just another option unless you can find a more effective way to market it.

Unless you can have the adds directly injected into the code of sites, and I'm not sure if that's possible or if it'd go over.

reminds me of what google were/are doing (not sure if they abandoned the idea) you could even make location specifc adds, like say your browsing for shoes it will come upp with the local show shops??

how much will this cost to set up and do you have the money? and whats ur predicted profit and loss?
