Do any of you recommend owning billboards?

Have any of you thought about purchasing and leasing out billboards for movies or auto makers? Would you find it a reasonable way to make money?

To me it doesn't seem like much in terms of upkeep costs more than the initial price of the billboard and possible the cost of the land on which your billboard is on?

    How does this industry work?

    Thanks

I'm not too familiar with the "industry" per say, but I have looked into this as a form of advertising for my company. I have come across the local laws/permits are very tricky to get; I would try consulting your local land offices to find out what the deal is in your local area. Or try putting up advertising cabinets in restaurant restrooms or any other restroom facility for that matter. There is a local company in my area called ZOOM media and you see their ad space almost in every restroom I go into.

    Hope this helps.

    Billboard advertising medium

    Greetings,

This is not an easy business to start due to new billboard laws, and in most areas you will never get them approved. Existing billboard companies have a lock on industry and I cannot recall even one new company in this industry in last two decades.

I was in the mobile billboard industry, and the reason was because there was no other medium available which would give maximum exposure similar to roadside billboards like mobile units.

    Good luck, Mike
