Designed my first Logo, need feedback.

I have made some major changes to the logo. Please let me know what you think and I really appreciate any feedback.


Well I have started a mobile marketing business to compliment my merchant services company. Since mobile marketing if obviously cell phones and I mostly deal with SMS text messages I decided to use the name One Sixty Media. 160 being the maximum number of characters you can put in a text message.

Nonetheless, I would like to get some feedback on my logo. Bear in mind this is the first one I have ever designed. Any comments are welcome.

The idea is great, though it's been poorly executed. I strongly recommend more vibrant colours and a more advanced font that looks professional. Also, the mobile phone would look better if it was created as vector artwork and again, had more colour.

@Chris Brooks - Thanks for the list, that is TON of infomation.

@Matagascar - I agree with you about the colors, I am working on that right now. As far as the vectors go I have Adobe Illustrator but it is slow going trying to learn how to work it. I use Fireworks for most everything. Really what I cannot figure out how to do is join the two rectangles (phone and antenna) so that the gradient applies to the who object and not the individual objects.

@discountedclothing - Thanks for the comment. I am very confident the mobile marketing will be huge in the next few years.

As a graphic designer myself, you did a great job conceptualizing your design. I love the name 160 Media in the context of your business model.

You still have some tweaking to do as far as color goes but you're definitely headed down the right path.

@julie01, myfayt - Thank you for the input.

@benmaxime - I used Adobe Fireworks CS3 to make that logo but have since been using Adobe Illustrator.

I am actually having some issues with AI but that is mostly because I am not used to working with vectors. It is coming along though.

Lynda.com is a great way to learn how to do just about anything. They have TONS of video tutorials. It is like 25 a month but well worth the money considering all the education they are giving.

@CASimmons - Thank you. I am in the process of adding some color, I am however lacking on the creative side. I have had all my other logos professionally designed but since I have been recalled by the Marine Corps I don't have as much money as before. I am working on it though.

Good first attempt, but I think you need to keep working on it
You can hardly read "media" at that scale, try it at a letterhead size. Also I don't think the dropshadow works, if it will it needs to be toned down a lot.

That's cool. You are doing good so far. I do agree with @justy540 that you may need to find a more scalable layout for the word 'media'. Once the size of the logo is scaled down it will just read One Sixty.

Just something to think about.
