Describe your business
I'm a high schooler and I see alot of you with your own businesses. I'm trying to sort out what majors and career paths and I've always been interested in entrepreneurship. If I started my own company, like everyone on here, how much profit would it earn monthly? Is this your full time job? Is your company growing? That would be great if you could describe like what you normally do and stuff. I kinda want an inside look on an entrepreneurs lifestyle. Thanks.

You just asked a REALLY ambigious question. Theres really no way to tell how much money you can earn, it all depends on what type of business it is, what your doing, selling, etc. I'd say running your own business is a full time job and then some, it takes hard work and dedication in the startup phase.

I think that being an entrepreneur has a lot to do with having control in all aspects of your life. If that's the case with you, then why not ask yourself what *you* want out of life? What would be fulfilling to you? What do you love to do?
Think about these questions in the perspective of who you're going to become in the next 10 or so years. Once you know the -why-, the -how- becomes really apparent.

Speaking for myself, I knew I wanted to run my own business but I had no idea what. In fact I really just knew what I *didn't* want to do - work at a desk for someone elses profits.
I like being in control of my own destiny. To answer your question about earning potential there really is no limit, but laziness and procrastination...or worse still, not even starting are your worst enemies.
I work from 10am - 6pm each day but I work as hard I feel like. I love going to work each day so my motivation is strong and I know my success is in my own hands so I'll make the effort to at least give things a real shot. If I don't succeed it's not going to be from lack of determination. True if you looked at my daily routine it's very similar to as if I was working a desk job, the difference is I paid for the desk I work at! But seriously in my mind I don't work hard at all but time will tell if I can continue on this path and be successful.
My advice is to give it a go but make sure you are comfortable with what you do. enjoyment = motivation and that's very important for success.
Cheers,
Yaro

it's great that you want to start your own business, but you defintiely need to make sure its something you love and are passionate about.
the way i got into starting my own company was when I worked for others. I knew I didnt want to work for someone else, and plus I wanted to have the freedom to travel and do things I really enjoy doing. Once I realized that, I just looked at my life and thought about what would I love doing 10 years from now, 20 years from now. THen it came to me. TEA!
Now its just seemingly endless hours of work but I know that it will be worth it in the end. I'd rather suffer for a few years and watch this company grow allowing me to travel and do what I want to do, as opposed to work for someone else and watch them do what they want to do while I make the same salary year after year after year after year.
Most importantly though for now when you go to college is to make sure you learn as much as you can because you never know where you'll end up. I personally majored in bio and philosophy fully intending to go to medical school, but that changed after I graduated and did some travelling.
So good luck!

I guess its entirely dependent on why you want to be an entrepreneur. You shouldn't make the mistake of thinking the "entrepreneurs lifestyle" is a flashy high-flying kind of life (unless you're got $100M in venture capital and sales skyrocket to millions on the first year).
I work every minute I can spare; whether at 6am, 4am, 3pm, 1pm, or when I'm sitting on the train. Every time I start a business it starts off making no profit, and I work long hours for nothing at first.
I enjoy it though, because I've always liked doing everything on my own, without a critical boss/superior to judge my work, and everything I produce will go on my plate.
