Do u need to go thru some payment merchants of some sort? if so, any to recommend? can i have more than one website using the same merchant account? or do i need one for each?

I recently applied to a credit card merchant and they said that you can only have one source of revenue for each account though this might be a company policy

It really depends on where you are and your type of business as well as your business names.

If you are in the United States and processing more than $1,000 a month, a merchant account might be better than using a third party processor , like 2Checkout / Paypal. Paypal might be a bit cheaper at first for a merchant account, but sometimes getting your money takes a bit longer. With a merchant account and an electronic payment gateway, you will usually get your money in 48-72 hours.

Yes it depends on the sales agent and the acquiring bank. For example, if your DBA is Pets R Us and you are selling office products then you might think about another merchant account or renaming your business. This way, if someone bought a lot of office supplies but they see 'Pets R Us' on the credit card statement, they might not recognize the charge and request a chargeback.

I have used ProPay.com in the past, and I can vouch for them that they do a good job.

You could check with worldpay, chronopay, moneybookers & multicards. They accept majority of credit cards and also can help you on setting the payment system as you are looking for. I am not sure about their set-up fees though.
