Its not the idea that makes a great business, its the fact of taking action on that idea and the way its executed.
Do you think Ray Kroc invented hamburgers? No.. he just executed the sale of hamburgers well, as well as great execution of the business process and the location of his shops..

Additional income is made with traditional and established businesses. Creative thinking is for making a fortune.. or loosing it for that matter. If you haven't noticed the bigger part of this site revolves around creative and unique bussines ideasa single thread is futile, you will be assimilated lol

Being creative may be doing something thats already being done with a little twist which gives the business a competitive advantage
There is nothing to suggest you need to invent something new in order to make a successful business. A good business can come from a better application of existing ideas.
At Smarter Housing, we manage houses on behalf of private owners, in return for a 7.5% management fee. There is absolutely nothing new or groundbreaking about the service we provide property owners, so why have we grown at such a rate since 2005? The benefits provided to property owners were not at the heart of strategy when the company was formed, however. Smarter Housing was founded by University of Warwick graduate Adam Arnold, after a torrid experience of the student rental market. After some market research, Adam identified three failings which could be rectified with a better application of existing technologies:
1. Estate Agents provide little and/or poor information on available properties
=. Integrate photos, virtual tours, floorplans and maps into a slick website (3 clicks from arrival to sale)
2. Fantastic and terrible properties available from the same estate agent
=. Only accept high quality properties and try to 'raise the standard' of the market
3. Poor service levels towards student tenants
=. Students are the key to Smarter Housing and attention to customer care is essential. Tenants with Smarter Housing benefit from free broadband internet and access to exclusive offers/discounts with a network of businesses throughout the UK
The initial focus on solving problems for students seeking accommodation has been paired with a client (landlord) focus that has enabled Smarter Housing to increase the number of student properties on offer from 30 in 2006/2007 to over 200 in 2007/2008. As we move into the 2008/2009 academic year we are aiming to provide over 500 student properties to the University of Warwick, Coventry University, as well as all universities in Birmingham, Nottingham and Bristol.
During the summer of 2008, Smarter Housing are moving into high end residential sales and lettings. Initially this element of the business will focus on Warwick, Leamington Spa and the surrounding areas such as Blackdown and Hatton.
The first non-student property has now been added to the Smarter Housing database - an exclusive 2 bedroom duplex penthouse in the sought after Blackdown Hall development. Basic details can be found here!
