Creating an Online Sports Book

Is an idea that I have been mulling over the last couple of weeks and been wondering what the legalities of the situation are and whether or not the market is already to saturated.

There are a few minor details to my plan that would make my book unique -- just wondering what you all think of the idea in general or if anyone might have any prior experience.

Thoughts/Comments?

Well -- I have come to the realization that the original idea that I had had may have been a little outta reach. Here is the new idea:

I currently enroll in a fantasy league for every major sporting event and have become a little disappointed in yahoo fantasy sports for a number of different reasons. First of all -- they do not update stats fast enough -- unless you pay. Secondly -- they do not offer a function where you can place bets -- everything has to be done person to person.

My idea now is to offer a NCAA Tourney league where each man can log in and place bets on the entire touney -- as well as being able to place bets week by week on each game as well as for people to make personal bets week by week.

After giving it some thought -- the only way that I could go about doing this is to have paypal accounts -- not sure -- anyone have any other ideas?

This is purely in the brainstorming stage -- if anyone has any ideas please feel free to share.

E

i do a good amount of online gambling and i would say it would take alot to open an online book. most books i deal with are across seas. i have yet to seen one based in the U.S. but i could be wrong. you need alot of money to start on also. because you are required to be to cover all bets at all times of your business.

your revised idea is what anyone can do at any online betting site.

My whole point after my last thread is that I would like to create a free fantasy league for just myself and my group of friends that had the full betting functionality of sites like cbssportsline but without the initiation fee

I don't think Paypal would allow it because their rules don't allow any betting websites.

However if it is done among a group of friends it may be ok.
