    If you want to start a REAL business you will have to be licensed and insured. However you don't have to incorporate or anything until you want to. Your best way to figure out what your next steps are is to contact someone with a similar business in a different area (one that you would not compete with) and try to develop a friendship. Your best route is asking them questions and learning what worked for them and what didn't. Then go online and research similar businesses in your area. Check out their websites, price points, etc.. Soak up as much as you can from people currently in the biz then go for it!! Good luck!

    In Growing Your Business by Mark Leblanc, Leblanc urges you to start with one idea at a time. If you're building and selling a boat, don't get into accessories at the same time too. Keep your business as simple as possible from the get-go, until you establish positive cashflow and some natural growth.
