continue my study or my business?

    hi all,
I need your advice about my dilemma.
I think you all capable to give me a good advice.
I have to make a hard choice, continuing my study or my business.

I am a girl, 18 years old. I live with my mother. I stop to continue my study about a year ago because i must take care to my mother cause of sick.
Then I send many application to many company to get a job. One day i receive a respond from a company to be their business partner. I got this company from internet. I use my home yard as my first store and they supply all the products to fill my store free.
Now my business give me much money. But my mother ask me to continue my study. She said that business is not always good. I receive a sholarship from one local university for biology major. I don't like it, i prefer to be a lawyer.
Now i have about USD 82,000 in local bank from my business, if i continue my study, i want to take it abroad.

    I have two question for you all;
    1. If you were me, what you should do, continuing your study or your business. I am still young.
    2. How much is the cost of school fee and live cost in abroad university?

If you want to send me a private advice, please dian4rodos-at-gmail-dot-com.

    Thank you.

Just follow what your heart and brain tells you, IMO, I would continue with my business, what's the purpose of going to school? we are going to school to learn and after we graduate we look for a decent job to earn money right? It's the same purpose, to earn MONEY. Now that you are earning money, would you stop it so that you could go to school and earn money in the future? It's non sense. Your mother is wrong on saying that business is not always good, have you ever thought that almost 80% of billionaires are under graduates? this is just my 2 cents

You can do both studying and your business parallel so that you don't miss anything.

I did both simultaneously; did my bachelor and master in Computer Science while running my company. It just means you probably take a little longer to complete your studies (my company was #1 which meant that sometimes I missed important classes or couldn't study for exams).

As said above, do what you like. If you like both, do both. Just look for an education you can participate part-time in.

You don't say where you are, or where exactly "abroad" might happen to be. So, without that knowledge it's hard to give you a good response. And, in all probability your scholarship will not "travel with you" if you do go elsewhere.

And you should also consider your mother. If you is truly in bad health and you are her only possible care-giver, you would not be the first to give up a promising career in order to take care of family. Family should come first.

However, if she is simply whining or begging, but has no definite medical reason for you to stay, you are at an age to make a move. And you could certainly continue doing business while studying. If you have $82,000 USD and would come to America, you could certainly manage to complete your undergraduate studies with the help of some side income.

If it's a lawyer you want to be, then become one. I would certainly not waste years of study in a field I did not feel comfortable with and look forward to working in. Too many people your age go where they feel obligated to go, instead of where they want to go on their own. You have to be adventurous and independent to have do as well as you have with your business, it sounds like you could succeed in virtually anything you wish.

Do what YOU want to do.

am I alone at thinking that $82K income from reselling stuff for a year is a bit... surprising?

As far as college costs go, in different places they are different. E.g. in Australia they are reputedly much lower than in America. In Canada probably also, though not sure. In Germany it would be essentially zero (you only pay for housing) but then you would need to learn German first. Whether that's hard or not depends on the person. FWIW I think that Canada ought to be a great place nowadays since they are likely to be relatively insulated from the coming turmoil (economic and otherwise) in America and will also to some extent benefit from it as well.

Continue your study, money can earn anytime and business can be done perfectly if you have more knowledge. I support you to do your study now. Maybe you can do both if you have enough energy or your study was not so hard.

Since you have already jumped into the business and are doing well, you need to continue with the business. Education is to help you with your first business. I also was 18 when I launched my very first business, and it did fair, but when I was 21 and had another business, I did really well and was successful. I stay stick with business.

with good time management you should do both. That's my two cents. HOWEVER, the key to hapiness in life is following your heart and doing what makes you happy. You've got a lot of people telling you this on this thread so heed their advice.

I think that you should think of business ideas that could make you money while you are in college. You have enough money to go to college in most countries, with a part time job. If you had a small business instead of a part time job I think that you would be much more comfortable and it gives you the choice of growing it. Go for the education, but not in biology if that's not what you are interested in!
I would choose something to do with business - or you seem to prefer law
