CIA Seed Money Helped Launch Google

OK, most of us go out there looking for seed money to launch our start-ups. Most of the times it is really hard getting the start-up money, and thus most of the start-ups fail during the initial stage.

I know by reading on the Google's web site how the Google founders got their $100,000 seed money and this is the first time I hear or read about this that Google has received seed money from the CIA. I didn't even know the CIA is also in the business of providing seed money to start-ups.

Discussed is funding to google founders before they had a bank account. I have no idea about the CIA article you posted.

It's an interesting read, especially considering our obsession with conspiracy theories and government coverups.

However, I have to question the reliability of the interviewee's statements, based on the following observations:

This is a 20-year-old with no firsthand knowledge of his claims whatsoever, just "claiming sources told him that CIA seed money helped get the company off the ground."

According to Steele, "I think Google took money from the CIA when it was poor and it was starting up..., citing 'trusted individuals' as his sources for the claim."

Since he revealed his source by name, it will be interesting to see how things develop and what truth there may be, if any, to his claims.

This link Google Milestones provides the company's milestone and does not say anything about receiving money from the CIA.

I question the validity and credibility of the source and the interviewee.
