Where have the customers gone? Let me remove 1 myth, they're not gone they are still there they just aren't spending like they were 2 years ago. All that means is your need to increase how range of targeting our potential customers. Ok, so how do we do that.
What I am about to say is going to be straight with no beating around the bush. Listen close and learn this and you will always have your Customers when others are slow. In the last several years what has gained popularity. Have we not gone from a Mechanical Age to a Digital Age. Yes and for those of you that have worked to keep up have a Website. But still the Customers are not there. It's good if you have a Website but as most of you are learning that isn't enough. We are still Advertising in our Regular mediums;
What works Ok but is costly?
Returns on Investments:
1. Newspaper -2%
2. Television - 2-3%,
3. Radio - 2%
4. Direct Flyers - 2%
5. Pay for Click Ads - 5% (Problem is your Competition can click on your link until the exhaust your Daily or Monthly Revenue allocated - this is called Click Fraud and it happens all the time)
6. Yellow Book - 1-2%
7. Email Marketing - 2% (Relatively cheap but the reality 98% Delete the SPAM) less than 2% actually buy from this)
Still no increase in Customers even with increases in the above. So here is where they are. The Internet has increased 10 fold in the last 9 yrs.. It has become very efficient for Customers to find Services and Products that otherwise wouldn't in front of them. So how are the finding these Services and Products to buy. 74% use Google the #1 Search Engine on the Planet. 2nd is Yahoo and then MSN and AOL and the other not so popular Search Engines.
Ok so now you know where they are at. They are shopping from Home and Work. Ok now you understand where they are but your Business is still not in front of them. Here is a fact you need to know; 96% of those that Search from Google & Yahoo never go past the 1st Page of Advertisers even though there are 50 more pages of Advertisers. On the first page of Google you have 3 areas;
1. On top and right side you have Sponsored Links that Pay for every time a Potential Customers clicks on there link (This area is not recommended as there is a high amount of fraud that occurs as Competitors to these Companies can click on the continually and exhaust there allocated amount for Clicks on the Day/Week or Month.)
2. The next section is Google Mapping of local Shops, this generally shows about 3-6 different relevant searches matching in your local area.
3. The 3rd most used section in just below the Google Mapping called the Organic Listings. It is in this area that the most hits can occur and anyone that holds the right keys unlock Page 1 of the Google Search for your Category.
What are the Keys you need? Answer: There is 3 needed to hold the position continually.
The 3: Meta Tags: Single Words that fit your Product or Services, Key Word Phrases: Phrases that show relevancy continually through your Website of the Product or Service. Last is linking, the more links you have to your Site from the higher you Rate in importance to Google/Yahoo and the other Search Engines. Of the 3 Linking is the most important.
Great info but it carries a big problem. Ever notice that when Survivor hit the scene on TV how there began to be more and more reality TV Shows. It seems like that it is on every Channel even the Infomerical Guys came up with one; "The Pitchman". Well the same is true with the Internet. Getting you to be on top of the Google where 74% Search from is the key. Heres your problem: Just as there are trends and hype it has hit the Search Engine Optimization. Businesses have come out of the woodwork saying there it and use them.
Keep in mind SEO marketing of sites is the new hype. Everyone says they can put you on top.
