Cell Phone Wallpaper Company

I am interested in starting a cell phone wallpaper company. This industry offers cell phone users (primarily young people) pictures, sayings and designs to put as their background on their phone.

I have all the ideas and designs I'd like to come up with. Some "sayings" are funny/provacative and others are pictures of everything from sports to bikini babes.

I have a verizon phone myself, and when I click on 'get it now,' I can buy wallpaper from different companies. Some of these companies include:

- Viva (http://www.vivavision.com/)
- Oasys (http://www.oasysmobile.com/)
- Fun Mail (http://www.funmail.com/default.aspx)

I have alot of the designs that I want, but I need the software where users can buy it from. Are there special cell phone programmers for this job? If you look at any of these wallpaper programs, they're unlike most web sites and are extremely simple.

I also just recently realized I would have to pitch my plan to Verizon, Sprint, Cingular, etc. if I were to be downloaded on every customer's phone. With this said, it may be easier for me to start a web site that sells the wall papers. Users pay through paypal/credit and they choose the wallpapers they want. We would have to develop/buy a program that sends the person their wallpaper via phone once the transaction takes place. Are there any companies that offer this?

If I were to start this, my hope would be to develop to not just sell wallpaper but ringtones and text message jokes.

Idea wise sounds great to me.

BUT! Hey now handphones are all link to the pc and images are transferable between each. I doubt the young teens would spend the money on wallpapers at all. Now that the internet is so common, it is virtually easy to find any pic you want to on the net and just upload to your phone. Hope my comments help!

I see what you mean. Perhaps I should make a web site where users can upload their own pictures/sayings and design them with the tools that we offer. We would also offer a program where the site will text message the user with the wallpaper they designed. The only catch is that their design will now be available to the public where other users can download it for free. We won't have to pay any picture/design fees and users can download their own wallpaper they made and other people's wallpaper.

I agree. I'll have to look more into this. It's convenient for many teens to buy wallpaper/ring tones off their phones because it just goes to their phone bill. But if I become an independent supplier on the internet, the user will have to pay with his/her parent's credit account.

Not a great idea. The market is saturated at this point. Be innovative!! Try to come up with something unique!!

My niche was to cater to the younger male market. I would do this by having funny/provactive/double meaning wallpaper sayings, pictures of exotic cars, sport symbols and logos and possibly even bikini model wallpaper. Everything that is interested to young males. I think I would succeed in finding what my demographic wants since I fit my demographic perfectly.

As for innovation, is this new or is there already such thing?:

I could make the site offer two things:

1.) Wallpapers that cost money that are professionally designed with sayings and/or pictures.

2.) The "free" part of the site would be wallpaper designed by the users. My only run in with this would be the transfer charges from the site to the person's cell phone.

I wish there was a forum specifically for cellphone wallpaper companies but I can't find one. I'm going to have to find a pc-cell phone transfer provider.
