I think that with all the hype around mobile media here in the States you could do very well in the States IF you presented a good biz plan and could demonstrate to my former colleagues in the ad world it could bring a good ROI.

Why didn't it work in the gulf? Is this something that is also going to be a factor in other markets- that is the question to ask yourself. My guess is that if video works better than pictures, autotrader, ebay motors and the rest will adopt it quicker than you can build mass around a new site. But if you already have a site, and a good answer to the above question, it may certainly be worth a try.

Well Imblogger. I think it is a great idea. There has been times I wished people would do a video on things I was looking at. I would make a list of things they have to have in the video. Such as making sure they turn the car on so the people can hear the car's engine. Make it the site be known for making the clients give the best description and proof to the condition for the car.

    That is my thought.

Decent idea... the site needs some work. Do you have a marketing plan? I do consulting for the second largest auction company in the country and the largest public auto auction in the country. Both have large internet sales programs. They each use still frame pictures to sell well over 1,000,000 vehicle a year.

I think the next step in their online sales progression is video like this. You need more info about the cars. Consider a VIN explosion from someone like NADA or KBB. You should put a tutorial on your site that tells people exactly what to film.
    - Car should be running
    - Car should be idel and then to 2500 rpm
    - Walk slowly around the car
    - Keep the video to under 60 seconds

These are all important elements to a successful venture like yours. As far as I know no one at either of the companies I work with is exploring this technology now. If you can get this a little more refined look me up again later.

Good Luck... I think you are on the right path!

I tried to load your site but it wouldn't respond. Is it still up?

I personally think it may be too early to attempt this for mass scale. There's definitely room for it in the future but it may still be too early to tackle such a thing.

Hotswap.com - a funded automotive startup based themselves around this very niche (sell cars by video). I've heard from the grapevine they're no longer in business though I haven't confirmed it.

EasyAutoSales- do you think that software could be developed for other people to use on their sites? I work with Welcome to Capital Auto Auction which is the largest public auto auction company in the country. Instead of someone trying to create a site that uses this technology... could the technology be refined and licensed to companies like Capital Auto Auction?

    Just thinking out loud
