    Can you still make it without an education?

    As we all know history is full of high school drop outs that became millionaires. One I know personally is my uncle. He opened a company in an old cabin by a beach and then bought in stuff from Japan and sold them cheap here. (Japan was like China back then). He never finished high school but he is a very wealthy man, (millions of US dollars.)

    But do uneducated people still have a chance? It seems like all high school drop outs that became billionaires/millionaires are all old men. It doesn't seem to work any longer? You seem to need at least a college degree for people to invest in you?

    I had investors wanting me for my own construction business. But I'm a good handy man and people always recommend me. But I rather do something else... I have been thinking of investing in others since I save all I make.

    Going off topic, but the question is.

    Do High School drop outs still have a chance in this day and age? Have the possibilities increased or decreased since everyone can get a diploma?

    Thank you for reading, /JuiceDrinker.

    * Henry Ford
    * Soichiro Honda

    Although many fit the your profile of 'Old Men', I don't think there is any shortage of opportunities today. There will ALWAYS be room for improvement and innovation. The problem is that much of the culture just isn't receptive to it.

    Sure, anythings possible. I personally wouldn't take that chance. You always need something to fall back on, regardless of how much money you have. My opinion atleast

    You can make it without a degree or going to college without a problem.

    You can make it with educating yourself as well, but your probably going to pay for it.

    You will pay for it because life is a hard teacher, you are more likely to make costly mistakes without an education.

    I highly recommend you at least educate yourself, read some books, go to seminars, take a class, etc.

    You dont have to go to college to be successful if thats what you mean.

    People become millionaires without going through college, but to say that people become millionaires without education is false.

    I'm sure you have heard the analogy before, you cant drive somewhere without knowing where you want to go or without a road map. Sure you can always get to where you want to go without a map, but you are more likely to make wrong turns, get lost, etc along the way.

    Books and classes are like maps, they show you all the wonderful short cuts and things that will help you protect your assets in business.

    Good luck!

    Other High School Dropouts:

    * The Bum living in the dumpster down the street
    * The 35 year old getleman working at mcdonalds
    * My meth addicted aunt who just lost her job at the pet store
    * The thousands of people that dropped out thinking, "school, ha! look at
    all these people that did it"

    I guess this makes me part of the group of people in culture that aren't "receptive" to it.

    Its a win-lose subject, I don't think you could successfully debate, and win on this subject.

    You could bring up the point of Richard Branson, then you could bring up the point of the bum living in the dumpster down the street. A better question would be, "Could you become a millionaire without ANY type of education".

    I certainly wasn't trying to debate the subject. The summarized questions were:

    "Do High School drop outs still have a chance in this day and age? Have the possibilities increased or decreased since everyone can get a diploma?"

    I believe the answer is yes on the first and increased on the second. Is dropping out the best course of action, no. I certainly didn't mean to glamourize it.

    Can you make it without an education? No.

    Can you make it without a degree? Yes.

    I think you're blurring the lines between education and a degree. They're not the same thing. Everyone who makes it is educated in some way or another. I'm getting my degree because the whole college experience will provide me with a lot of opportunities that just are not possible without getting a degree. But that's just my opinion.

    I believe it is possible (anything is possible). I wouldn't consider high school drop outs as "uneducated" people, I feel people do things for their own reasons and if that's the way they want to live their life, that's ok.

    The important thing is to be strategic - and you can have that with or without an education.
