    can you help me please?

    Hi, My name's annabella.
I have recently started a website called bed&fed (a database of 'kitchen supper, bed and (simple) breakfasts' for £35pppn or less), but I have a problem:

Currently I am trying to build up a database of at least 200 members all over the country before I feel I can approach any newspaper to do a story - HOWEVER, the website at the moment is aimed at I think mainly housewives who want to make SOME money only SOME of the time without having to run a full time business (For example the members in Perthshire are the right kind of people and have understood the concept completely) but I am finding it impossible to get through to these people -Additionally people in cities, not necessarily housewives but really anyone with a spare room could take advantage of the website and make a lot of money. I know people like this are out there but it is very very difficult to get to them and I have little or no budget for advertising unfortunately.

It's a bit of a conundrum - like a weird logic puzzle - bit of a chicken and egg situation, but I wondered if anyone might have any bright ideas?? please do let me know - I'd be so grateful!

    thank you

    Hi Annabella,

So basically people think you are a scam because you tell them they can make money?

    Annabella,

You can still create a some buzz online by posting your press release, joining social niche networks that reach who you are trying to reach. If you have a site up already, there's no reason why you cannot approach media now about it. You can also start networking with online writers/bloggers who also reach your target audience.

Don't put this on hold until you reach 200 members, start promoting it now!

    All the best,
    Nic

Nic raises a great point. You won't get to 200 members unless you do promote it. Of course, press releases are just one way. There are lots of other ways to promote your site -- article marketing, video marketing, social networking, forums, etc.
best of luck and please share the url of your site.

So is your site kind of a "couch traveler" with a fee? I like the idea and i think it would catch on if people found out about it. post a video on youtube about traveling cheap. travelers will probably find it but they will watch the video none the less and maybe do it themselves. good thinking and best of luck
