Can i start doing business now? / Town Approval?

Alright everyone, i have gotten my trade name registered as a sole propreitor and have gotten my state tax number today and i called the courthouse and they tell me i need to get approval from my town to do business before they can issue me any licenses (traders if any).

Now i will be doing business out of my apartment which has a small home office where i will be doing a service offering custom t-shirt printing. Now i plan on doing most orders online and will be getting the payment via pay pal/check, printing the shirt and shipping it out to wherever. Of course theres going to be some local sales i'm sure where i'll be deliverying the product.

There will be no clients coming into my apartment at all either. The apartment is located right on top of a electric company that sells appliances such as stoves, fridges and more. Basically what will i need to do to get approved to do business in the town if i need approved?

The courthouse did tell me i do not need a trader license or any if i'm offering a service so is it safe to start doing business and writing things off or not? This is very confusing i know but i am just as confused haha

The town hall's area where i need approval if any is closed for another week because of a unknown reason and i really wanna start my business.

    Thanks everyone!

    question?

Is the area considered commercial or residential?

    Sometimes this makes a difference.

If it's zoning is residential you may need to get a variance.

Check with your building inspector's office.

hmm I am not sure what exactly you mean by approval however, to work out of my "apartment" i have an occupancy permit or somethings, basically it says i am alotting a percentage of my home to my business.
