Camera to Homebased Server - IT Question

Can anyone give me some insight into how one would go about setting up a security camera in one location, to a hard drive in another location?

Many of the "security cams / ip cam's" are able to send snap shots to a ftp server or email address. I have a wireless D-Link DCS-920 Wireless G Internet Camera that has a built in admin panel with all those options. You can even setup it up as a webserver and watch the live video from anywhere. Makes a great nanny cam also.
