Calling all designers

Hey guys, quick question.

Do you guys go out cold calling for your services? or just advertise and hope they come to you?

Im looking a developing a sales letter template and looking for your ideas on what works for you.

I have yet to do a marketing campaign, but there will be one soon. most of my work has been through networking/people finding us through search engines.

I advertise my company, use networks and networks of people to get jobs.

Research companies in the area, see if they have a website, if not I call them.

Hire tons of designers that have worked for other companies, and then from

there they come to me for revisions and updates, or brand new sites.

I send out postcards, place inserts in newspapers, go to networking parties, everyone whom I meet receives a business card- no matter who they are.
I also try to promote my website with my myspace acct.
Also, always put on tag on your printed materials.
A lot of my business also comes by word of mouth.

I design sites but I've grown not to love it like I used to. I still do it but I don't advertise anymore. It's usually by word-of-mouth these days.
