I just wanted to say that when it comes to buying software it has to be totally amazing for someone to usually buy something digital. If not totally amazing then at least necessary.

A 3d game may get bought because it is the only software of its kind. However Microsoft Office is something people can do without because there are so many similar programs. Better yet, many people don't run Windows as their OS. Microsoft Office may get bought if you use it for work making presentations however. Just my two cents for you to keep in mind.

One place for software resale which I really don't feel has been done well is academic priced software, especially for non-college students. Think of all the teachers and high school students with out there not being serviced by a "Campus bookstore." Sure there are websites doing this, I just don't think they do it too well....anyway for what it's worth my 2cents...

For example http://www.gradware.com/ sure you can find it from a google search, but how many k-12/teachers are aware that they can get from 50-90% off retail software, I think something could really be done from a with a grassroots campaign....

It (market research) usually i find helps me cement in my mind that an idea has merit in accomplishing.

When i think about how to sell software i am looking at a few things... what effects and helps a customer make up their mind to buy a product, what do they consider when buying that product, and how can i put a new twist on an idea that others have done and failed at.

I am really just trying to picture my customers--- so naturally as this business takes shape i am going to be looking for customer feedback... that's vital.

i want to sell software around the idea of lifestyles... the Gamer, the Developer, The Designer, The Business person, The student, and so on... so this'll be a big work in progress but awesome none the less.

Luc
