Buying a new domain name but using the same web host

Let's say I have xxx.com registered by my web host company.
I want to retain possession of xxx.com but, at the same time, want to link my server to yyy.com

How do I do this? Is this called a domain name transfer?

Where are the cheapest domains at now?

    Thanks for the help.

I mainly use godaddy.com for all our domains it must be the largest provider of domains on the planet.

.com Domain names at godaddy cost less than 3 cents a day, and you are worried about price shopping?

Very true... are you familiar with the term diminishing returns?

    Example...

You spend just one hour "shopping" for the CHEAPEST domain provider.

You already know of one that charges $10/year.

You find the cheapest one to charge $7/year.

You saved $3 for one hour of research = you made $3 an hour = OUCH!

Law of diminishing returns wasn't on your side this time.

    BUT

If you are registering 30-300 domain names you would end up saving (earning) $90-$900 for that one hour spent "shopping".

$90+/hour is a little more reasonable, but are you registering 30+ domain names?

If you are only registering 5 or so... your time is better spent elsewhere.

The point is time = money (in fact time = a lot more than just pennies)... and I hope you ask yourself if the money saved is worth the time spent.
