Buy Out YoungEnterpreneur.com

I dunno what it is, maybe I'm old fashioned, by shouldn't joints like this have road maps for innovation and continuous improvement?

So it looks like the mods aren't gonna apply them selves to evolving this community. I think that's sad, and it's a threat for this community.

Anyone one wanna put together a partnership, lead the deal and do a management buy out? It's easy...collect the money and then redistribute monthly profits/losses, have a proper board etc etc...

Sounds like a good idea, I wonder what the owner would want for it?

Really the only thing that is keeping this forum going is that it has the community... the competition is already out there, it's just that they don't have the users or community setup since most people are on the forums here.

Yeah, I must agree with you on that one Akula, the level of moderation on this forum is far less than what I expected.

A management buy out sounds good, but how much would people be expected to invest, and how much would you charge the community for use?

The owners are not selling, I can tell you that.

Then the owners might find themselves facing a boycott. I still get the impression that this site is an idea leech project...simply a way for the owners to hopefully come across a few diamonds in the rough every once in a while. Because they sure as hell don't do it because it interests the[u]m and they enjoy it. The best example was 'Matthew' the mod from june 2003 who congratulated outthand on his 1000th post when he has only made 14 posts himself! If the owners do decide to sell up I would be happy to put up anywhere from 25% to 75% of the asking price if I can find a partner(s) to put up the rest.

I am sure what they are asking isnt gonig to be cheap. Standard sales are monthly rev x 10. this is an established site so x 12+ isnt out of the question.

They are getting lots of search engine traffic, and have about 100+ of people online at anytime. I am sure that quite a bit of that converts on adsense.

lets say they get 100,000 page views a day. (I am sure I am guessing low)
and have an eCPM on google of $.50

Thats $50 a day, $1,500 a month. And at a x10 that would be $15,000. I know I am guessing low.

any hoo. I doubt anyone will be buying.

I doubt if they make that much each day because most of the people on this site are regular visitors. They really don't have a reason to come here everyday and just start clicking on random ads.

Google does have CPM ads.

If you are considering a buy-out, why not consider creating the community that you envision at a new domain name. I would be very interested in being a part of doing something like this.

Ofcourse that is true, the only value this site has is its goodwill...the regular member base of around 25 regular posters, 250 not so regular posters...and all the thousands of silent viewers that don't input but regularly read. The site itself is just a phpBB or vbulletin whatever it is. There isn't really much else. I personally wouldn't value that goodwill above 5k. Maybe another few thou for the established domain name and search engine rankings giving it a value of 7k...but no doubt the owners would want an overinflated price in the region of 20k...which isn't going to happen... unless they can find an idiot to put up that money.
