That actually sounds like a pretty clever idea, but I'm not sure if it would work. It's worth trying, though. I would recommend testing it out in a trial market. Maybe you could print some up and try to give them away for free at your school to see if people will bite. If it becomes popular at your school, then you could start up a web-site and sell them online. It would certainly be easy enough to advertise.

My mate done a similar idea to this outside nightclubs, selling "single" and "taken" badges to the people going in! he also handed out business cards with the badges and sold some t-shirts and other things online that was along the same idea. It worked quite well for him and funded a new business venture for him

I am not sure if people would like to make their IDs public. For many internet helps as they can have friends on the net and not in person. There are many cases of people making friends with idea to exploit the friendships.

We have seen some cases where the girls were even murdered. There are cases where murderers are traced to facebook.

just run - facebook murer on google and see the results.

Hence, it is better to keep the network ideas personal and let only friends of your choice know. Not the whole world.

Probably, you can make general pin ups/ T-shirts with some catchy punch lines or jokes.

    or something else!

    all the best

If you start getting much attention with these types of pins, you better believe the sites are going to come knocking with a cease and desist order from the courts. And possibly a little lawsuit to squeeze some money out of you.

Agreed with Jon. A way to solve this might be setting up a JV with the sites.

You would have to gain a whole lot of attention to have to worry about these sites coming after you. Based on what you said I say give it a shot. You are basically giving those sites free advertising so I doubt they will bother you.... If some day they do come after you then you will have had a great deal of success and welcome their visit.

On the privacy note... People will choose to wear the badge so if they are doing that then they have already made a conscious decision to give people their profile name. I don't think you need to worry about that either.

Try it out at your local school.. if it catches on then try selling them on eBay... If it really catches on... call me... I'd invest in something simple like this.
