    Business Reading Material

What are you currently reading, and what are your recommendations for must-read business-related reading material?

I'm currently reading Tony Robbins' "Awake the Giant Within", and downloading the audiobook version of Chet Holmes' "The Ultimate Sales Machine". My must-reads are.. pretty much anything by Guy Kawasaki, and most of Robert T. Kiyosaki's material (author of "Rich Dad Poor Dad").

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (not sure if anyone caught the reference in my username), I liked some of Kiyosaki's books also, The Economist is probably the best magazine out there, BusinessWeek is good also but doesn't even come close to the amount of material packed in each issue of The Economist.

Anything by Norm Brodsky is good. Ditto for Guy Kawasaki.

Currently, I am reading The Go-Giver and I have read books by Seth Godin, Guy Kawasaki and some other famous business book writers. I always believe that reading is a great way apart from taking actions to acquire business skills and knowledge.

Be wary of any author who made their money writing about business and not actually doing business!

My best business lessons haven't been from a book, they've been from talking to hundreds of small business owners and involving myself in their daily operations. Business isn't about reading, it's about doing and while the basics of business can be learned from a book, the only way you're going to gain business confidence is from taking the leap yourself.

Calculate your risks, bounce your ideas off your peers and take the leap many are too affraid to take.

I'm sorry I have no actual book recommendations to make, just my 2 cents.

Used to like Robert Kiyosaki's books, but his last few books doesn't had lots of value to take away.

For building great business, I recommend "Good To Great" by Jim Collins.
For new marketing conept, "Permission Marketing" by Seth Godin is good although it focus on internet marketing, but just pick the main principle to apply in traditional business will do.

Guerilla Marketing is a great read to understand most marketing methods.

I've listened through 3/4 of Chet Holmes' "The Ultimate Sales Machine", and have come away with plenty of great material -- some of which I'm already incorporating into my own ventures. Definitely a recommended must-read (or listen), even if your business has nothing to do with sales. In one way or another, both in our business and personal lives, we actively "sell" things... A product, Idea, or ourselves (and no, not in that way).

My top 3 recommendations as of today:

Made to Stick-[/I]Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die[/I]. By Dan and Chip Heath.

This book is for anyone that communicates in any fashion (which we all do). I just finished it about a week ago and am recommending it to all my friends.

4-Hour Work Week. By Timothy Ferriss.

I purchased the audio version of this book. Its packed full of resources for entrepreneurs and ideas that really make you think about the ways you currently do things.

The Magic of Thinking Big. By David J. Schwartz, Ph.D.

I actually just received this book a couple days ago (great amazon purchase). This one was actually referenced in the 4-Hour Work Week, which is how I found out about it. So far, so good.

I'm a Napoleon Hill fan as well. I try to live by this quote:

"The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take place of those which fail."

Thanks for the suggestions. Apparently one of the mods liked the concept of this post, since they made a duplicate and stickied it! Lol, anyways, I'm going to surf audible and see if I can't find the 4 Hour Work Week and something by Napoleon Hill.
